Hello, my name is Kaye Armstrong. I am a Special Education Teacher for 4th and 5th grades. I teach Reading/Language Arts and Math. There will also be interventions for Science and Social Studies. I have 2 assistants, Vicki Clauson and Lisa Hester, who help in the regular classroom for all subjects. We all hope to have an amazing experience this year.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Vocational Home Economics (9-12) from Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky. My Elementary Endorsement (1-8) and Special Education Certificate (K-12) are from University of Pikeville in Pikeville, Kentucky. My Master of Arts degree is also from Morehead State University.
This is my 33rd year teaching Special Education. I have taught in Kentucky, West Virginia, and Tennessee. My husband, Roger, and I live in Kingston. Together we have 5 children and 12 grandchildren. I love babies and usually spend all my "spare" time with the grandchildren.
Parents are an essential part of their child's education and children desperately need their involvement. Students become like family and we educate and develop each child to the best of their abilities in all areas (socially, emotionally, and intellectually). I am looking forward to sharing my love of education with my students.
Please try to READ together with your child at least 20 minutes per day (read to them and let them read to you). Study spelling words, multiplication facts, and all tests at home. We will review in class before each test. I feel blessed to be part of your child's life. Let's plan on and look forward to a great year!
